Clunking over bumps? Car floating and loose? GTA potholes destroy suspension — I fix it where the car sits.
Ontario roads are rough. Potholes, frost heaves, construction debris — your struts, control arms, and tie rods absorb every hit. When they wear out, your car handles worse, your tires wear unevenly, and your alignment drifts. I see this constantly on vehicles with 80,000+ km in the GTA.
Suspension work is one of the most mobile-friendly repairs there is. Most components are accessible from underneath with jack stands — no lift required. I show up, jack it up safely, and replace what needs replacing.
Bouncy ride, nose-diving when braking, excessive body roll — I replace with quality units. Honda CR-V rear shocks are a very common call; they go soft early and people don't always notice until the ride gets bad.
$400–$800 per axleWorn bushings and loose ball joints cause clunking and vague steering. BMW X3 control arm bushings deteriorate quickly — a common noise complaint on those vehicles. Replaced with proper torque specs.
$300–$600 per armInner and outer tie rods affect steering precision. When they're worn, the steering feels loose and the car wanders. I replace and recommend a wheel alignment after.
$150–$350 per sideThat clunking over small bumps, especially in cold weather? Probably sway bar links. A quick, affordable fix that makes a huge difference in how the car feels.
$100–$250Humming or grinding noise that changes pitch with speed? Worn wheel bearing. Pressed or bolt-in units replaced on-site with proper tools.
$250–$500 per wheelDodge Ram ball joints are notorious for going early. A failed ball joint can let the wheel fold under the car. I don't take chances with these — I test properly and replace when needed.
$200–$450 per jointSuspension work is perfectly suited for on-site repair. Struts, control arms, tie rods, sway bar links — all accessible from underneath the car with quality jack stands. No lift needed for most suspension jobs, and I'm not going to charge you lift time anyway.
The most common upsell on suspension is replacing everything at once when only one or two components actually need it. I check each part individually. If your struts are fine but your sway bar links are shot, I replace the links — not quote you a full suspension overhaul.
Dodge Ram owners: check your ball joints before 100,000 km. They go early and it's a safety item. Honda CR-V owners on the second or third generation: rear shocks are almost always the culprit for that soft, wallowing ride. BMW X3 owners: control arm bushing collapse is very common at 120,000+ km — the steering starts feeling vague before the clunk appears.
After any steering component replacement, you need an alignment. Not optional. A new tie rod with bad alignment will eat your tires in months.
I come to your driveway with everything needed. No tow, no shop wait. Available 24/7 across the GTA.
